Uses of the Cactus

The cactus is used mainly as a decorative plant in people's homes. In addition, some Native Americans use certain species of cactus in herbal medicine or as a psychoactive agent. Often times, cacti will be planted in close vicinity to one another and as they grow, they act as a fence/barrier. On occasion, people may also eat cacti after burning off their spines.
